The primary focus of LQIF is to reach every child and empower them with essential Life Skills grounded in Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). The program aims to extend its impact across schools, communities, and all settings where trained educators can effectively implement the curriculum.

Lions Quest is designed for students from Grades 1–8, offering a progressive and age-appropriate learning experience. The program follows a student-centred instructional approach and recommends conducting 28 to 36 sessions of Skills for Growing (SFG) and Skills for Adolescence (SFA) every academic year. These sessions must be facilitated only by certified and trained teachers at both the primary and secondary levels.

Schools are required to allocate a 40-minute period for Lions Quest in the timetable, scheduled once or twice a week, similar to other curricular subjects. All students are enrolled in the program by default, with the option for parents to opt out if they choose. Each year, students receive a grade-specific student journal, along with a Family Connection Book that complements classroom learning.

LQIF ensures that books and materials are made available at nominal costs, enabling maximum participation and benefit for children. The Family Connection Sheets encourage stronger family bonds through simple, enjoyable shared activities. Additionally, periodic parent meetings form an integral part of the implementation process, helping families stay informed and engaged.

Social and Emotional Learning – Successful Implementation

Effective implementation requires the meaningful involvement of parents and the wider community

A Partnership with Families and Community

Lions Quest programs—Skills for Growing (SFG) and Skills for Adolescence (SFA)—are built on a strong partnership among school, home, and community, ensuring that SEL learning extends beyond the classroom.

Families stay actively connected through parent meetings, which provide opportunities to understand the program, share ideas, and engage with other parents.

Family Connection worksheets, completed at home after each Lions Quest session at school with children, encourage meaningful parent–child interaction through simple activities that reinforce SEL concepts, strengthen communication, and deepen family relationships.

Community partnership is an integral part of Lions Quest. Students identify real needs within their school or neighbourhood and plan and implement service-learning projects to address them. These hands-on experiences allow students to apply SEL skills such as empathy, teamwork, decision-making, and responsible citizenship, while discovering the value and satisfaction of contributing to their community.
